Smart Office
A smart office is a hi-tech workplace that uses analytics and connected technology to help people work more efficiently and productively. A smart workplace that traditionally combines several data-driven and digitally-enabled services and solutions to, among others, enhances worker experience and efficiency, realize cost and energy savings and add value to the office (building) with apps for various stakeholders.
Smart offices draw on a variety of different technologies and tools. This helps to support more productive, seamless, and automated working processes. Tools used in a smart office can include video conferencing software, meeting room software, desk reservation software, hardware tools, and analytics tools, giving insight into how the various spaces are utilized.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is changing how we live, work, travel, and do business. It is even the basis of a new industrial transformation, known as Industry 4.0, and key in the digital transformation of organizations, cities, and society overall. Reason enough to understand the essence of the Internet of Things.
Look at it this way: people can connect to digital networks and the Internet with devices such as smartphones and computers, in order to share information, chat, buy, and so forth. The Internet of Things essentially enables us to connect ‘things’ to the Internet (and to networks that use Internet technology).
The Internet of Things is the logical next step in the evolution of the Internet and is a continuation of M2M (machine-to-machine) networks and technologies, building upon and extending technologies in M2M, mobile technologies, RFID, NFC, and more.
